Recipe for Success: Dark Processing in Insurance — BGV Boosts Efficiency with AI Solutions from Insiders
At the specialist conference hosted by Versicherungsforen Leipzig, the two companies demonstrate how AI in input management takes dark processing in insurance to a new level, making processes more efficient and further improving quality.
Insiders, a technology-leading provider of Intelligent Automation (IA) software, is participating together with its long-standing customer BGV Badische Versicherungen in the specialist conference “Dark Processing & Workflow Support in Insurance” organized by Versicherungsforen Leipzig. In their presentation “Business Transactions Precisely Identified: Higher Automation and Quality Through AI Assistance,” Sören Hauser, Team Lead Input Management at BGV, and Felix Burkhard, Senior Sales Manager, Business Unit Insurance at Insiders Technologies, provide practical insights and show how modern AI technologies optimize dark processing in insurance.
Challenge in Input Management: Complexity Meets Digitalization Pressure
BGV – Badischer Gemeinde-Versicherungs-Verband – has been rooted in Baden since 1923 and provides reliable insurance coverage for municipalities, companies, and private customers. With a strong focus on regional responsibility, partnership-based collaboration, and sustainable solutions, BGV supports its customers in safeguarding all essential risks. Like many insurance companies, BGV faces the challenge of designing complex business processes efficiently while meeting regulatory requirements and rising expectations for digitalization.
For many years, BGV and Insiders have worked closely together in input management, jointly implementing numerous process optimizations. The introduction of the Cognitive Classifier now marks the next step in this partnership. The Cognitive Classifier is an AI component capable of analyzing both text and image elements using specialized methods, delivering significantly higher accuracy.
BGV processes around 650,000 documents per year from email and physical mail channels. With the new AI solution, the dark processing rate was significantly increased, thereby improving workflow efficiency.
“The Cognitive Classifier represents a major step in our long-standing collaboration with Insiders. Insiders gives us the flexibility to gradually integrate AI solutions into existing systems—always with a focus on sustainable value. This relieves our employees and sustainably improves our service,” explains Sören Hauser.
Felix Burkhard adds: “Together with BGV, we were able to demonstrate how AI noticeably eases daily work in insurance operations. Using state-of-the-art AI technologies, the Cognitive Classifier ensures that incoming business transactions are processed faster, more accurately, and more efficiently.”
Practical Case Study at the Specialist Conference of Versicherungsforen Leipzig
In their presentation at Versicherungsforen Leipzig, Hauser and Burkhard demonstrate how the Cognitive Classifier optimizes the analysis and processing of business transactions and supports workflow orchestration in insurance operations. Participants will learn how hybrid AI approaches help minimize manual rework, ensure quality, and shorten process cycle times—an essential advantage in an increasingly digitalized and highly competitive environment.
The specialist conference organized by Versicherungsforen Leipzig, a partner network of more than 280 companies from the insurance industry, including primary and reinsurance companies as well as insurance-focused software and consulting firms, will take place on February 10 and 11, 2026, in Leipzig. It is aimed at specialists and executives from IT departments of insurance companies, particularly in the areas of process management, enterprise architecture, process automation, operations organization, IT architecture, and requirements management.
