Agentic AI in Insurance: Two Agents That Transform Operational Reality
In November 2025, Insiders kicked off this paradigm shift with a high-profile expert panel discussion in Berlin: Insurers, scientists, and technology experts gathered for a roundtable discussion how Agentic AI can realistically shape the next level of process automation in the insurance industry, and where the concrete benefits for data-driven core processes lie. It became clear that Agentic AI is not viewed as a distant, futuristic technology, but rather as a practical step forward that can already lay the foundation for productive applications today.
Technology Meets Operational Reality
Insiders always focuses on where the latest technologies are translated into real customer benefits. In private health insurance and in business process management, efficiency is not determined solely by individual automation steps, but equally on the quality of the preparatory work. This is precisely where the biggest bottlenecks lie today: incomplete submissions, heterogeneous documents, time-consuming follow-up inquiries, and departments that spend a large portion of their time on preparatory work instead of making decisions.
Together with the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (Fraunhofer IESE), RPTU Kaiserslautern, and insurance representatives, Insiders is launching the development of two AI agents —with a clear focus on two specific, production-ready use cases in the insurance industry. The goal: a robust industry standard for agent-based systems in the insurance sector
Why a consortium instead of an individual solution?
Our experience and close relationship with our clients show that artificial intelligence and Agentic AI only realize their full potential when domain expertise, technology, and an understanding of processes work together. The consortium makes exactly that possible. Insurers, research institutions, and industry insiders are jointly developing agentic systems that meet real-world requirements, are compliant with regulations, and can be integrated into existing system landscapes.
Instead of isolated proof-of-concepts, an Agentic framework is emerging that is based on reusable building blocks and can be rolled out in stages. For insurers, this means a faster time-to-value, reduced integration effort, and early access to a technology that paves the way for the transition from traditional automation to agent-based autonomy.
The agents will not solve abstract future problems, but rather very concrete operational bottlenecks. They structure, review, clarify, and prepare—so that people can work where their contribution adds the most value.
Agentic AI is therefore not an end in itself. It is the next logical step for insurers who want to simultaneously improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
